Dr. Michael
'Dr. Mike" Polifko, D.D.S.
Michael Polifko grew up in Michigan
and graduated from Michigan State University in 1968. He went
on to dental school at Georgetown University and graduated
in 1972. While at Georgetown he joined the Naval Reserve and was stationed
at the Naval Dental Clinic, Washington D.C.
His Mother, who was
widowed in 1958, married a man from Woodbridge, VA, and the
family moved to Woodbridge in 1966. The family dentist, Dr.
Robert Humphrey, not only became Michael's new dentist but gave
him a
job as an associate dentist in his practice. He eventually went
into solo practice in 1973, and built a new office on Opitz
Boulevard in 1979.
Dr. Polifko met and partnered with Dr.
Dvorak in 1984. They have been together since that time, and now
are in a new office that they built together.
Dr. Polifko's life has revolved around three things: music, the Navy, and
Dentistry. He met
his wife in the Georgetown Symphony Orchestra and he still plays
in the violin section today.
They have three children that all
play instruments and are actively involved in music.
He played with the Woodbridge Symphony for ten years and
currently plays with the Jokers
Band, a Country Bluegrass group that gives free concerts at
retirement homes. He is also making a violin that he hopes to
sell some day to fund his retirement.
He has retired from the
Naval Reserve where he was actively involved with recruiting for
15 of those 23 years.
Dr. Polifko says the best thing
he ever did
was going into dentistry because he truly enjoys his patients and
providing them the best and latest treatment dentistry has
to offer. Dr. Polifko is
a member of the Woodbridge Study Club and the Northern Virginia
Dental Association (ADA). |
